2024-25 Upper Deck PWHL Hockey is the second release for the brand, which saw its debut in January have massive popularity. For this second release, Upper Deck has elected to maintain much of the feel of the initial, with a base set, Young Guns, parallels, and inserts, but this year’s release brings autographs into the mix. The set also marks the first PWHL release using the official team names, which had not been finalised for the 2023-24 debut season. Hobby boxes are limited to 2 Young Guns and 1 YG Outburst each, and a full breakdown of the release will be available at Breakninja.com.
Matt’s Opinion: The initial PWHL release was massively successful (I only opened 1 pack but received one of the biggest hits of my life), so the bar is very high for season 2. The Young Guns class won’t be nearly as star heavy as the first, which featured icons such as Marie-Philip Poulin, Brianne Jenner, and Natalie Spooner, but Upper Deck makes up for it by adding signed cards, a feature that was missing from the first release. I hope that the release maintains the popularity of the initial and that Upper Deck does not over produce the print run.
